Team Haifa has made it through the toughest mountain bike race in the world

They won a sponsorship from Haifa, trained hard and overcame the obstacles. Frank and Jan, aka Team Haifa, made us very proud. Way to go guys!

Team Haifa has made it through the toughest mountain bike race in the world

It all began with a special promotion, designed for glass house growers in the North West Europe region. The growers got a chance to win a sponsorship contract for their own sports team or for the sports team of an employee.

Over forty growers have registered, and the top 5 most motivated growers had to create a funny video explaining why they should be the winners. The videos were uploaded onto a special website Haifa has created for the competition ( https://www.winnenmethaifa.nl. ), and the videos were rated by the website's visitors.

Cucumber grower Frank Knevels received the most votes and won the competition. Frank Knevels is an avid mountain biker, together with his bicycle partner Jan Oomen. They were looking for a sponsor so they could compete in the toughest mountain bike ride in the world, the Cape Epic in South Africa.

Although the race was extremely difficult and required enormous strengths – both physical and mental ones – Frank and Jan have made it to the finish line and made us all very proud.

During the days of the race we published a daily log detailing the Team Haifa adventures, all accompanied by photos. Here you can read it in English or in Dutch.

Thank you Frank and Jan. I hope your connection with Haifa will remain as strong and solid as you're will power and determination.
