1. Contains only pure plant nutrients
While other potassium fertilizers contain elements which are not required by the plant, Multi-K™ potassium nitrate contains 100% plant nutrients – potassium (K+), and nitrogen in the form of nitrate (NO3-). Thus, Multi-K™ leaves no residues that might contaminate soil or groundwater.
2. Improves uptake of potassium
The synergy effect between potassium and nitrate facilitates uptake of both ions by the plant roots. In addition, the affinity between the negatively charged nitrate and the positively charged potassium prevents adsorption of the latter to soil particles, keeping it available for plant uptake over time.
3. Combats the adverse effects of salinity
Multi-K™ reduces chloride uptake by plants when found in soil solutions or irrigation water. In a similar manner, the potassium in Multi-K™ counteracts the harmful effects of sodium. Therefore, Multi-K™ is highly recommended for salt-sensitive crops, and when using irrigation water of poor quality.
4. Improves water use efficiency
When using fertilizers with a high salt index, extra irrigation is required to remove the salts and prevent harmful build-up of salinity. Due to its low salt index, Multi-K™ eliminates the need for irrigation, and saves water.
5. Can be applied with all other fertilizers
Multi-K potassium nitrate can be safely mixed with all water-soluble fertilizers, because it does not create insoluble precipitates that might clog drippers and nozzles.
6. Multi-K is the Pioneer Potassium Nitrate fertilizer
Back in the 1960's, Haifa introduced the use of potassium nitrate as a fertilizer. This was enabled thanks to the Israeli invention of industrial process to produce potassium nitrate from potash and nitric acid. Since then, Haifa has continued to be at the forefront of the potassium nitrate agricultural application developments.
